Filled with excitement from news of a new baby, Kaylene Dabbs immediately began dreaming up this camping baby shower theme for Emmett James.
My first thought was Twinkle Twinkle Little Star – I wanted to do something with under the stars. Then a camping theme was born. What better way to welcome one s’more to our family?”
“I immediately began rummaging through my basement and every antique store near me. Armed with lanterns, canteens, boat oars, fishing baskets and warm blankets, the planning began.” Guests were greeted at Georgia wedding and event venue, The Corner District, by the twinkling of star lights as they found their way to the assortment of camping themed treats. Each table was aglow from the soft light of the kerosene lanterns, as friends and family enjoyed their grilled chicken and black bean fajitas followed by a sip of spiced hot apple cider.
It could be my pregnancy cravings talking, but what better way to experience the ambiance of camping than to roast a marshmallow over an open flame from the loaded S’more bar? While delicious, the highlight of the evening wasn’t the treats, but rather a beautiful, hand-crafted crib built by the soon-to-be proud grandpa, my father. It was the perfect place to hold the gifts, nestled under an arbor built out of rustic branches and adorned with flowing draperies. It was a sight to behold, and as the last ember faded form the camp fire, it was sure to be an evening to remember as we patiently await baby Dabbs.
